Garza Lane was written in May of 2021 for the North Texas Low Brass Camp’s solo competitions for trombone and bass trombone. This piece is the composer’s attempt to musically portray a day of fishing on Lake Lewisville in the DFW metroplex. During the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic, the composer began fishing with a friend so they both could have a safe outdoor activity to do in the pre-vaccine days of the pandemic.

This work was originally intended for tenor trombone, and this bass trombone version is the same as the tenor version but transposed down a perfect fifth. This bass trombone version’s range is from pedal Ab to Eb4 (above the bass clef staff), and the duration is around 3-4 minutes depending on tempos.
