Joy Cometh in the Morning was originally written for trombone octet and premiered at the 2018 International Trombone Festival Composers’ Workshop Showcase. Yu Tamaki Hoso asked me to arrange this work for solo trombone and piano after hearing the trombone octet version in November of 2021, and he gave the solo arrangement premiere in Tokyo in May of 2022.

Length: 5 minutes

Range: The solo part only uses a range of an octave plus a perfect 5th. Lowest note is C#3, highest note is Ab4.
