Airen Yocum has written another gem for trombone octet with his Where Quiet plays alone, a beautiful work that showcases the rich sonority only a trombone choir can create. This lyrical piece is based Sara Teasdale’s “A Fantasy” and was initially written for SATB choir before being adapted by the composer for trombone octet. This work makes for a wonderful addition to any trombone ensemble program.

Length: 6 minutes 30 seconds

Range: Top tenor part mostly stays above the bass clef staff - the part has a couple C5’s and a couple Bb'4’s, but is otherwise very manageable. Other tenor parts stay in the staff for the most part. Lowest bass part has some soft pedal G’s and F’s, but mostly stays right below the staff in comfortable dynamics.
